Because mountain biking has been on the mind of late, I come back to this custom MTB prototype from Gaulzetti Cycles. Zach and I had a chance to talk with Craig Gaulzetti back in March this year at NAHBS.
We came across the rig above. It’s built for a female pro MTB racer, and it’s remarkable for a few things: it’s a hardtail, it runs a rigid fork, and she uses road shoes. Think about that for a minute. She’s tailored the whole thing to suit her style of racing and riding, and no purer embodiment of a particular time and use can be found that comes to mind.
It’s utterly unique and begs the question: “What do we really do with our bikes, and are they representative of the real me or an ideal of me?”
